Couverture Collage (Create Your Own Custom Collage Blanket)
Referencing the surreal collages of artist JK Russ as a starting point, participants will create their own unique 8x10" human-creature collage featuring background elements and subjects of their choice.
Publication source materials will be provided and participants are also invited to bring their own print-outs of personal photographs to incorporate.
The artist will then document each unique collage and will compile a design to be scaled up and printed onto a 60 x 80" personalized woven blanket. This soft and cozy throw, hand-finished for durability, will provide a lasting memento of this special occasion.
The Living Story Thread
Your Experience:
You’ll sit with a circle of natural fibers, ribbons, and
pressed flowers — each color representing a value or
memory you wish to carry forward. As you weave,
you’ll write a few words or initials on a small tag,
tying it into the design.
What Happens Next:
The Teaching Artist will complete the weaving in the studio, securing each
strand, preserving the florals, and framing it within a
circular base. The finished piece becomes a wall-hung
tapestry — a symbol of your connection and the
community that supports it.
